our story
Bòfré is a music collective founded on the island of Ilha Grande, Brazil. Comprised of traveling musicians on the island from multiple countries, the group was brought together by a love for a nomadic lifestyle and unique music experiences. During the pandemic, the project relocated to Miami, FL, which allowed for collaborations with Latin and Caribbean musicians based in South FL, while still working remotely with musicians and creators around the world. The debut single "Wildflowers" arrived Oct 2022, and the debut EP "Ilha Grande" is arriving in November 2022.
Translated from the Haitian Creole word bofré, meaning brother-in-law, step, or half-brother. The concept for the name and the project is found family, musically and literally. We may not be related by blood, but we’re related by the music, life, and our shared experiences.
